The river Wye is Britain's fifth longest river, at around 250 km . It begins at 741metres above sea level at Plynlimon in md-Wales. The river then passes through three distinct areas before entering the Severn Estuary near Chepstow.

The Wye is one of the least polluted rivers in Britain, and has been classified a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its whole length because of the quality of the water and the wildlife that lives around it.
