Air travel - from anwhere in the world!!

If you are planning a trip to the Wye Valley, or can help you book a flight. Use Expedia's booking form below to check the options available to you. The commercial airports closest to the Wye Valley are Bristol, Cardiff andBimingham. London's Heathrow is about two hours drive away.

By rail

Sadly the railway lines in the lower Wye valley no longer exist. In this region the closest railway lines are Chepstow (on the Newport to Gloucester line) or Newport (on the London to Cardiff / Swansea line). It is also possible to travel from Newport to Hereford by train and from Birmingham to Hereford.

Use the Train Line booking form below to check out your option anywhere in the UK.

By Road

While the Wye Valley itself is fairly isolated, parts of it are close to major motorways. The mouth of the Wye at Chepstow actually passes under the 'old' Severn Bridge, which in turn carries the M48 (an 'old' part of the M4 motorway). The M4 runs from London to past Swansea in South Wales.

Ross on Wye is near the start of the M50, which in turn joins the M5 motorway.

To see the how well traffic is flowing on the M4 motorway, there are webcams in various locations which are updated every 5 minutes. For the M4 at the Severn Bridge look at the BBC websites for South Wales and Bristol. (Just click on one of the symbols representing the webcams along the motorway).

National Bus Service

provide a national bus service to 1200 destinations. These include Chepstow, Ross on Wye and Hereford in the Wye Valley.

Local Bus Services

For the lower Wye Valley bus information can be obtained (rather unhelpfully) in booklet form from local Tourist Information Centres.
